D'Angalo Jackson to Transfer

At the end of today's article by Steven Pivovar in the Omaha World-Herald, it is confirmed what was initially reported on the Bluejay Cafe message board: freshman D'Angalo Jackson has left the team and will transfer.

Jackson has been hobbled by an ankle injury that he sustained during his senior season at Pius High School in Milwaukee, WI. Surgery was required on their ankle in the offseason and that took D'Angalo out of much of the offseason practice and conditioning. Also, with Dotzler and Miles on the roster this season and guards in P'Allen Stinnett and Antoine Young coming in the future, Jackson was behind the eight ball already without the injury. D'Angalo is reportedly looking for opportunities closer to home. By all accounts, there hasn't been anything negative that arose out of Jackson's effort and commitment during his time here at Creighton and we do wish the young man all the success in the world throughout the rest of his playing career and beyond.

With Jackson's departure, that opens up another scholarship for next year. One immediately thinks of 2007 guard prospect JayDee Luster, who has been persued by staff for some time. Also, as is always the case with this staff in recruiting, don't be suprised to see a name arise that we've not been aware of.

With this change, it gives us an opportunity to update the scholarship picture going into the future:

  • Green - Senior, Pink - Junior, Gray - Sophomore, White - Freshman
  • * - Harriman is a grayshirt in 06-07, with the promise of a scholarship going into next year.
  • ** - Brandt is a redshirting walk-on. As of now, we have heard of no guarantee of a scholarship going into the future, although that is a possibility.
